Description |
The Elementary Education Program is a 137 hour program designed to train elementary classroom teachers for a variety of educational settings. Academic coursework, as well as practical field experience, are combined so that students are prepared to teach K-8 subject areas with an understanding of the are level characteristics for each group. Students must also develop a written Christian Philosophy of Education as part of the ACSI (Associatio of Christian Schoold International) certification requirements. SEBC students who successfully complete the Elementary Education Program will graduate with a double major in Bible & Theology and Elementary Education. The will also receive their initial teaching certificate in Elementary Education (K-8) from the Association of Christian Schoold International (ACSI). SEBC students who graduate from our Elementary Education Program may pursue initial teacher certification with the State of Alabama by successfully completing a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from an out-of-state college or university that is state approved or NCATE approved. SEBC currently has a graduate school articulation agreement withe following institutions:Columbia International in Columbia, South Carolina. (Contact the SEBC Office of Admissions for graduate school program description and entrance requirements.) In addition, students pursuing Alabama State Certification must also meet all Alabama State Department testing and background requirements. |
